Merak’s composition relies on a low, substantial plinth that anchors the primary footprint, supporting a clean, inset tabletop surface. The defining design logic of the piece is its wrapping undercarriage, where intersecting ribbons of solid timber rise past the lower chassis to secure the top plane. This structural wrapping mechanism operates as a graphic frame, partitioning the table’s perimeter into neat quadrants and creating an understated visual tension. Where these linear bands meet at the center plane, the joinery replicates the crossover point of a tied cord. Rather than relying on standard surface junctions, the intersections are precisely notched and flush-fitted to maintain a single horizontal datum across the top.
